Too Cool for Internet Explorer

About Mathijs

I have no idea what you are doing on this website since it is mostly outdated and just a bunch of stuff I use or have used myself and for testing out webserver stuff. But since you're here anyway I might tell you a bit about myself.

Education and Work

I am currently working as a (mostly Linux-) sysadmin at ISP-Services/CleanPort and studying System and Network Engineering. Before this I worked for 1,5 years as a consultant / programmer at Aia Software BV., a company specialized in intelligent text processing, and about 4 years as a senior helpdesk employee for one of the major Dutch ISP's.

Computers

A lot of my free time is spent on computers, I try to learn as much about them as I can. I'm most interested in the field of security. A hacking guide i once started on can be found here (will be updated, sometime..).

Currently im also one of the (friendly?) helpers on Apache's #httpd channel on freenode, giving help to the masses of people who want to run a webserver. Specs of my own computer can be found here.

Music

I enjoy listening to a lot of different genres of music, including but not limited to: Drum and Base, Ska, Reggae, Classical, Techno, Tekno, Breakcore, Minimal, Breakbeat, Dubstep and Jazz. Among my favorite artists and composers are: Pendulum, Muse, Rachmaninov, Bach, Coldplay, Spinvis, C-Mon and Kypski, Aphex Twin, Amon Tobin, Yann Tiersen, Boards of Canada, Herbie Hancock, Rammstein, The Prodigy, Venetian Snares and many more.

I have put some of my favorite tracks online here.

Also I have played piano and keyboard since I was five years old, currently I have a Yamaha DGX-620 (picture) to play around with. Since about 15 years old I picked up percussion, mostly on the Djembé. In 2011 I started playing the Cello and have weekly classes.

Other

Other things I enjoy: Whisky (see my humble collection here), special beers, going out in the wonderful city of Nijmegen, wasting time on IRC and playing MMORPG's (Rift). For Rift I'm also the developer and maintainer of this tool.
